about FCMOCA

The mission of the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art is to engage our community in cultural experiences that promote the creation and appreciation of contemporary art.

To offer our audiences the best possible art experiences, FCMOCA presents a diverse series of exhibitions, community events, publications and educational programs. Our goal is to educate a broad audience about contemporary art and promote awareness and appreciation of the artistic accomplishments of local, regional and national artists.

The Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art is the only private, not for profit art museum in Fort Collins. FCMOCA presents a full array of programs consistent with its educational mission and commitment to reaching out to a broad, diverse audience. Each of our 7 to 10 exhibitions per year is accompanied by an exhibition brochure intended to inform visitors about the exhibition, while also challenging them to think for themselves and encouraging them to come to their own conclusions about the art on view.

FCMOCA’s signature fundraising event, Masks at MOCA invites Fort Collins community members and artists to paint and embellish ceramic masks. This fundraiser benefits the education and exhibition programs of the museum.

FCMOCA collaborates with a wide variety of other educational and cultural institutions. The museum's partnership with Poudre Valley School District makes curriculum-related tours available to area students and museum staff have collaborated with Colorado State University, OpenStage Theatre and the Lincoln Center to offer audiences multipoints of entry and venues for contemporary art and film. FCMOCA's audience reflects our community and includes people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds.
